Apply for District 300 boardCommunity Unit District 300 is accepting applications for the school board seat vacated by John Ryan. Ryan recently resigned after three years on the board to accept a job that requires him to spend significant time overseas. Application packets can be obtained at the District 300 central office, 300 Cleveland Ave., Carpentersville. The successful applicant would serve until the spring 2011 elections. To apply, you must be a registered voter and a resident of both Algonquin Township and District 300. Applications should be submitted by May 26. The board will interview applicants and select a new member on June 3. The vacancy must be filled within 45 days. The 90-mile ride will begin at 8:30 a.m. June 27 at Randall's Pancake House, 305 S. Randall Road, South Elgin, and wind up at Mary's Corner Tap, 304 Mill Street, South Elgin.
