Villa Park man charged with soliciting minor online

A Villa Park man remained in DuPage County jail Wednesday on charges he tried to solicit someone online who he believed was a child.

Carol Stream police arrested Mukesh Kumar, 27, around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Police found Kumar after a Carol Stream detective posed online as a 14-year-old girl, then was contacted by a man who wanted to meet for sexual favors, reports said.

Police said the detective launched an investigation and eventually arrested Kumar after the man drove to a Carol Stream location to meet with the "girl" he was trying to solicit

He was charged with indecent solicitation of a child, a felony, as well as a misdemeanor charge of attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Kumar's bond was set at $200,000.
