Kirk not listening to his constituents
I felt the necessity to write my local congressman Mark Kirk. I usually don't get a response and I felt that it was important to tell the public that some of the people that Mark represents are not being heard. I felt the need to talk about the real reason people should become public servants.
I think it is in times like these that a man is put to a real test. When he takes a public oath to serve the people he must decide what his future will be. Will it be a politically chosen path or a path chosen to help as many people as he is able in his position of power? Will you be bullied by the party of alliances, bought by the power that provides a path and concerned for your future career? Or will you decide that each decision is one based on what is right and what is best for the people you represent? You know as well as I what a great problem our health care system has become. I am not exactly pleased with the solution, but I know it will make things better than they are right now, and I am willing to compromise to move forward. Are you willing to compromise your future position in a hard-lined political war? You may survive this decision, but will you survive your own conscience? I don't mean to lay it on thick, but I think that jobs are not about being successfully powerful or rich, they are about being a success at what you accomplish. In my opinion, accomplishment is not where we are, but what we do.
I know you to be fairly moderate, and I hope that the powers that surround you do not convince you to do something against the well-being of this country. I beg you to please review your reasons for obstruction and do the right thing.
