Arlington Heights bull; Aisha V. Howard-Knight, 33, who is homeless, was arrested around 10:30 a.m. April 23 at Euclid and Evergreen and charged with felony aggravated battery, assault, disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer. Police said she spat and swore at St. James Catholic School students who were crossing Arlington Heights Road with their teacher. When questioned by an officer, she pulled an 18-inch-long metal bar from under her sweatshirt and hit the officer on the head, police said. The officer held her, aided by a 66-year-old Arlington Heights man who was walking by, until other officers arrived. The officer was treated at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights. Howard-Knight's court date is May 24.bull; Nicholas W. Hamilton, 27, of the 1200 block of South Highland, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 4:15 p.m. April 22 and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting a peace officer, battery, domestic battery, and violating an order of protection. His court date is June 3.bull; Rosa A. Garcia, 22, of the 0-100 block of Laurel, Wheeling, was arrested around 3:40 p.m. April 23 at Kohl's, 800 W. Dundee Road, and charged with felony retail theft. Reports said she took a purse off a shelf and filled it with children's shoes and clothes, men's clothes, and jewelry valued at $803. Her court date is May 24. She has a previous retail theft conviction, police said. bull; Burglars pried the rear door at a home on the 1200 block of North Ridge Avenue between 6:45 and 10:45 p.m. April 24, ransacked four second-floor bedrooms, closets, and bathrooms, and stole two watches, 13 bracelets, 7-8 necklaces, and two pairs of diamond earrings. Value was estimated between $12,000-$20,000. Four teenage boys standing in front of the house ran away when the victim drove into the driveway. bull; Thieves stole 26 steel pipe bollards from the sidewalk in front of the Mariano's Fresh Market construction site, 802 E. He received a phone call and told her he would be back later. Orleman, 19, of the 2700 block of Campbell Street, Rolling Meadows, and a 17-year-old male from Rolling Meadows, were arrested about 10:30 p.m. April 12 in the 2200 block of Hicks Road after an officer on patrol observed an occupied vehicle parked at a business that was closed for several hours. Fritz was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, Orleman was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis. Both were released on bond and are due in court May 3. The juvenile was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and released to his parents.bull; The building manager at Carriageway Condos, 5200 Carriageway Drive, reported that between April 5 and 16, thieves took property from three apartments was vacated due to a fire, with some of the victims' property being left behind during renovation.
