Some points for GOP to remember

The Daily Herald has published many letters from those that voted for their favorite Democrat like Foster or Bean in support of this bill. What they point out are the favorable talking points that the Democrats want people to hear, like covering kids until 26, covering babies with life altering diseases, eliminating the pre-existing condition, etc. Yes, these are great benefits.

However, the difference between the Democrats and the Republicans was not these great benefits. In fact, both parties agreed on these benefits, which could have been written in a bill that did not take 3,000 pages. The difference between the parties is what is hidden in the extra pages.

So, my hope over the next eight months is that the GOP points out their reasons for not supporting this current 3,000-page bill and asks the voters the following:

1. How is allowing the government to mandate you to buy insurance or pay fines or go to prison a good thing for us?

2. How is it a good idea to create over 150 new government agencies?

3. How is hiring over 16,500 new IRS employees to monitor your insurance plan to make sure it meets the government minimums a good thing?

4. How is allowing the Health Services Group to look at any of our tax returns a good thing?

5. This Congress and Obama were warned from the corporations that the bill would cost the companies multimillions or billions off the bottom line. How is that good for the country and the people that will lose their jobs because of this?

These are just a few points I hope the Republicans run on for this November. And there are people out there that really believe this is a good bill and not a government takeover - unbelievable.
