VW commercials promote violence
Have you seen the recent VW commercials? I was taken by the behavior used in them.
The first commercial shows two security personnel watching cameras in a parking lot; one them hits the other person in the arm and tells him it's a VW and does it again. The next commercial, which really bothered me, was an elderly gentlemen on the sidewalk with a young girl next to him, she spots a VW and punches him in the arm.
What is with the violence encouraging "Bullying?" This action of punching as shown in the commercials is called hazing in the Armed Forces. This behavior was outlawed in the 1990s. The violence portrayed in these recent commercials is unacceptable in today's society when the issues of "bullying and lateral violence" are a major concern.
Recently the media did a story of a young teen who killed herself because she was "bullied" in school. In my opinion, these commercials that are incorporating and encouraging acts of violence has nothing to do with convincing me as a consumer to buy their product. Instead I have decided never to even look at a vehicle from Volkswagen.
I started to write an e mail to VW on their website but it is limited to a few words, I was unable to send it. Very seldom does a commercial bother me, but this one does.
