Woman charged with assault on Arlington Heights police officer

A woman was held on $50,000 bond Saturday after allegedly assaulting an Arlington Heights police officer.

Aisha Howard Knight, 33, of no known address, was charged with aggravated battery, a felony, in Rolling Meadows bond court and held on $50,000 bond.

According to Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Jennifer Walsh, the female officer answered a report of disorderly conduct at 821 N. Arlington Heights Rd. at approximately 10:30 p.m. Friday and confronted Knight.

The officer asked Knight for identification, but instead Knight removed her jacket and pulled out an 18-inch metal pipe and attacked the officer, Walsh said. The officer was struck on the head before Knight could be subdued and arrested. The officer was treated for a head injury, but not hospitalized.

Knight was given a May 13 court date.
