Green Day, Soundgarden, Lady Gaga to play Lollapalooza
New wave punks, old-school grunge and outrageous spectacle will hit the stage at Lollapalooza this year.
Green Day, Soundgarden and Lady Gaga will headline August's three-day outdoor music fest in Chicago's Grant Park.
Arcade Fire, The Strokes and Phoenix will also share the bill.
The lineup, announced Tuesday, includes a wide array of pop and rock music. There's dance club favorite MGMT; classic reggae singer Jimmy Cliff; sweet melody makers The New Pornographers; reefer rappers Cypress Hill; critical darlings Grizzly Bear; and a blast from the past, the reunited Devo.
The rest of the list ranges from up-and-comers to in need of a comeback: Social Distortion, The xx, Hot Chip, The Black Keys, The National, Spoon, Blitzen Trapper, Cut Copy, Erykah Badu, Slightly Stoopid, Gogol Bordello, Chromeo, Wolfmother, Yeasayer, X Japan, MUTEMATH, Drive-By Truckers and Blues Traveler.
Rounding out the list: Dirty Projectors, AFI, Chicago's own Mavis Staples, Matt & Kim, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, The temper Trap, Jamie Lidell, Frightened Rabbit, F**k Buttons, Deer Tick, Stars, Raphael Saadiq and The Cribs.
Like last year, Spinning at Perry's will offer a DJ dance party with concert host Perry Farrell and friends like 2ManDJs, Empire of the Sun and Digitalism.
The concert runs August 6-8, though the Lollapalooza Web site did not specify when each band would play. Tickets cost $215 for three days, with no single-day tickets yet, at lollapalooza.com.
