Health care bill is a bill for the people
The biggest problem to the passage of this bill, was that most members of the press kept calling it health care reform. This bill was about changing health care insurance by simply making it available to everyone.
There is nothing wrong with trying to stop 32,000 unnecessary deaths. There are no death squads or any of the other mechanisms that were used to scare people away from the passage of this bill. As a matter of fact, this bill contains some of the exact measures proposed by Sen. John McCain when he campaigned for president.
This bill is a bill for the people. It goes against many of the special interest groups who opposed it so hard by spending millions on TV ads trying to scare the average American. It helps millions of Americans who were in need of medical coverage, most of whom had to use the emergency room as their doctor. It will bring down insurance costs to millions of Americans while protecting millions against being denied insurance coverage.
For their hard work and willingness to stand up for the American people, I would like to thank Sen. Dick Durbin and Sen. Roland Burris for there help in passing the health bill. It helps Americans of all ages and groups get the coverage they deserve, while at the same time reducing the debt of our nation, which is way out of hand. Remember when George W. Bush took office, the country had a $52 billion surplus; when he left office there was hundreds of billions in unreported debt.
We need to sit back, take a breath, then look at the whole picture and decide what needs to be done next. Congress needs to pass a jobs bill to help reduce unemployment and get America back to work.
