Elgin police investigate stabbing
Elgin police on Friday were investigating the stabbing of a 21-year-old man on the city's west side.
Police and firefighters said the victim was stabbed in the abdomen about 8:40 p.m. Thursday near a dead end on the 300 block of North Jackson Street, about three blocks west of the Fox River.
The Elgin resident was taken to Provena St. Joseph Hospital with serious injuries, but it was unclear if he remained there Friday.
Acting Police Chief Jeff Swoboda said the stabbing occurred in front of a house, but it was not the victim's house. He said no suspects were in custody as of Friday afternoon.
"We are continuing the investigation," Swoboda said. "We have witnesses that we're talking to."
Police wouldn't release further details.
