Palatine man faces charges

A 32-year-old Palatine man was charged with domestic battery after police said he stabbed his live-in girlfriend in the left thigh and duct-taped her mouth, hands and nose in the apartment they share.

She was treated at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Alshamntus R. Lofton, 32, of the 1500 block of North Winslowe Drive, Palatine, was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver after police found him and a Cresthill woman with a total of 23 rocks of crack cocaine and two small bags of heroin at the Red Roof Inn in Arlington Heights on March 1, reports said.

Renee J. Gilmore, 27, of the 2500 block of Silver Rock, Cresthill, faces the same drug charges. Police said Gilmore admitted Lofton supplied the cocaine, which she sold from the hotel room.
