Cut fat from the top in D300
As a concerned taxpayer I was wondering ... at the end of next school season 2011 when Dr. Arndt ends his term as superintendent for Community Unit District 300, will we have three former superintendents drawing pensions? Right now we have Scime and Wetzel together drawing about $350,000 per year. When Arndt resigns will that put us up to about a half-million dollars or better? I can't understand why the school district is going broke.
Next school year the superintendent in training will only be making $154,000 with four weeks vacation for on the job training. Where does it end? Everyone else that is working for a living has to deal with layoffs, wage freezes and many people are underemployed due to the economy. Not our superintendents. Where else can you work five or six years and draw a whopper of a salary and pension? I think it is time we cut the fat in the school salaries, starting at the top!
