Waukegan man found fatally shot behind hotel

Lake County coroner officials said they are awaiting the results of a toxicology report to determine if a 21-year-old man found fatally shot in the head behind a Waukegan hotel early Sunday morning was impaired.

The body of Farkhan Jones, of Waukegan, was discovered by Waukegan police behind the Ramada Inn on Green Bay Road at about 4:15 a.m., Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said Monday.

Jones was taken to Vista East Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later, Keller said. The man died from a single gunshot wound to the skull, Keller said.

Waukegan police are investigating the shooting. Police officials did not return calls Monday regarding the shooting.

Keller did not discuss the shooting due to the ongoing investigation.
