Woman stabbed with scissors

A Lake Villa-area woman was stabbed in the face with scissors by a Chicago woman Wednesday in a dispute over money, authorities said.

The stabbing occurred about 3:30 p.m. at a home on the 3700 block of Route 59 in an unincorporated area near Lake Villa. The homeowner told police that her cousin and a neighbor were fighting before her cousin stabbed the other woman, Lake County Sheriff's Office Sgt. John Willer said.

Police arrested Lashander Brown, 28, of the 4300 block of Artesian in Chicago.

The victim, who is not related to either woman, suffered a cut on one side of her face. She refused to be taken to the hospital, Willer said.

Willer said Brown was arguing with her cousin over money when the victim tried to intervene. Brown is charged with aggravated battery. Her bond hearing is set for 9 a.m. Thursday at the Lake County courthouse in Waukegan.
