Antioch man gets jail, probation for stolen gun
An Antioch man was sentenced to 18 months in jail Monday after pleading guilty to possession of a stolen gun.
Charles Eul, 37, will be released from custody only for work or to attend counseling.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Marykay Foy said police were called to Eul's residence around midnight Feb. 1, 2009 because of a report of a domestic disturbance. While at the house in the 500 block of Garys Drive, police found a handgun in the garage.
The gun was reported stolen from Cook County, Foy said, and Eul was barred from possessing any weapons because of a felony aggravated battery conviction in Wisconsin.
Charges of domestic battery and unlawful restraint were dropped in exchange for Eul's guilty plea.
Associate Judge George Bridges also placed Eul on probation for three years and ordered him to obtain an evaluation for substance abuse.
Eul must also make a $1,500 contribution to A Safe Place and perform 100 hours of community service while on probation.
Foy said Eul faced a maximum penalty of seven years in prison.
