District 116 needs board member:Round Lake Area Unit District 116 is seeking a replacement for board member W. Guy Finley, who has resigned. An eligible applicant must be a registered voter and a District 116 resident for at least one year. Those wishing to apply should write a letter of interest that must be received by Friday, March 19. The letters must be directed to Chief Executive Officer Ben Martindale, Round Lake Area Unit District 116, 316 S. Rosedale Court, Round Lake, Ill. 60073. Office hours are 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Friday for those who want to drop off a letter.Antioch Curves Food Drive: Curves in Antioch hosts the 12th Annual Curves Food Drive through March. The effort will help stock the shelves at Open Arms Mission in Antioch. Bring in a bag of nonperishable groceries or a $30 donation during the month and Curves will waive its membership fee. Curves is located at 911 Toft Avenue. For details, call (847) 838-9905.Mad Hatter's Tea Party:One Hope United's "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" featuring the 7th Annual Blue Ribbon Fashion Show is set for 1 to 5 p.m., Sunday, April 18, at The Lehmann Mansion, 485 Milwaukee Ave., Lake Villa. This year's event will include a tea tasting, luncheon, raffles, the annual fashion show featuring children and families, and live and silent auctions. Tickets are $75 each, and proceeds benefit the children and families in One Hope United programs. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting onehopeunited.org. For details about becoming a corporate or individual sponsor, volunteering at the event or donating a silent auction item, please contact Kristy Cechini at (847) 245-6505.Low-cost pet vaccine:The Lake County Health Department will offer a special low-cost pet vaccination clinic from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at its animal care and control facility, 29278 N Route 83, Mundelein. The clinic will be open only to pets of low-income Lake County residents receiving government assistance, such as food stamps, disability, etc. Registration is required for this clinic. All animals brought to the clinic must be at least 4 months old. Dogs must be leashed and cats placed in carriers. Cash payment is required at the time of vaccination.
