Some in desperate need of reform

I am a self-insured individual whose premiums have risen 41 percent in the last four years. In itself that increase is drastic. When you consider the fact that my deductible has gone up 500 percent, you have a clear picture of the future of health care premiums in America.

While watching the Feb 25 health care summit, I was surprised to hear my U.S. Representative, Peter Roskam, state that his district was against the health care reform bill. I am in his district and I support it, as do many other constituents.

We have e-mailed, phoned and visited his office to inform him of our opinions. I do not presume to know why Mr. Roskam would misrepresent a large number of his constituents (56 percent of his district voted for Barack Obama).

Maybe it is because his questionnaire regarding health care asks, "Do you support government takeover of health care?" and people are misled by the question. Maybe it is because being truthful would make his nationally televised speech less effective.

Either way, I'd like to correct the record. His district is not against health care reform. Some of us, unlike Mr. Roskam, are in desperate need of reform.
