Barrington appoints new assistant fire chief

Barrington fire Lt. Art Thompson was sworn as the village's new assistant fire chief at Monday's village board meeting.

"This extremely important change in leadership will allow us to continue our high expectation of providing outstanding fire and emergency medical services for the future in our community," said fire Chief John Christian.

Thompson, a member of the Barrington Fire Department for more than 26 years, was promoted to lieutenant in 2018. He is District 5 vice president of the Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois and is a past president of Barrington Local 3481 of the firefighters union.
