Immigration reform or bankruptcy
I've read the editorials, the op-eds, the letters to the editor and the articles on what the do-nothing politicians are saying about the Illinois budget and in all this something has been missing.
According to the organization Federation for Fair Immigration Reform the estimated cost of illegal aliens to Illinois is $3.5 billion. The breakdown on this is $55 million for incarceration, $340 million for health care, and $3.1 billion for education. That does not include costs for meal programs or programs for students with limited English.
It just might be time to seriously consider immigration reform before we all go bankrupt.
