Skeletal remains found in St. Charles
St. Charles police opened a death investigation Tuesday after skeletal remains were found in a wooded area on the city's far west side.
Police said a passer-by made the discovery shortly before 1 p.m. near Remington and Woodward drives, just south of the LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve. The remains, which appeared human, were found along with some clothing, police said.
St. Charles Police spokesman Paul McCurtain said investigators from the Kane County coroner's office and the sheriff's department were on the scene Tuesday afternoon, and the investigation is ongoing.
Further details were not released.
