Hastert post-Congress spending an affront

It is unconscionable for Dennis Hastert to take $1 million from the taxpayers to operate an office and staff. We don't need to finance retired House Speakers to promote their own agenda when so many people are out of work or just trying to make ends meet.

It is a disgrace that congressional rules allow this kind of waste. It smacks of arrogance and disregard for the real issues people expect government to fix. No wonder Congress has such a low approval rating.

Congress should appeal this perk for the sake of the economy and their reputation with disgruntled voters.
