Stroger hires political spokeswoman
Cook County President Todd Stroger hired his former campaign spokeswoman as deputy chief of staff today.
Carla Oglesby, managing partner of CGC Communications since 2001, was Stroger's lead campaign spokeswoman in the weeks leading up to last month's Democratic Primary.
"I was deeply impressed by Ms. Oglesby's work on the political side in the run up to Feb. 2," Stroger said. "I'm very pleased that she's agreed to join my administration and help us meet key goals and objectives in the coming months. She understands the initiatives and opportunities to which my administration is committed and is dedicated to joining me in doing all we can to support policy and programs that help the people of Cook County."
She's joining a lame-duck administration, however, as Stroger lost the primary to Chicago Hyde Park Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, ending his re-election hopes. The general election is in November, and the new administration will take office with the start of the 2011 fiscal year in December.
