Autopsy Friday for Waukegan shooting victim
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning for a 25-year-old Waukegan man fatally shot Thursday afternoon in that town. Authorities would not release the identity of the man until next of kin had been notified.
The shooting occurred at 1:15 p.m. near Eighth and Victory streets. The man was taken to Vista Medical Center East, where he was pronounced dead at 1:55 p.m., Lake County Coroner Richard Keller said.
He apparently suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest. Waukegan police and the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the shooting, which might be gang-related, Keller said.
