Don't seek inspiration from Karl Rove
Karl Rove on the front page of the March 20 edition of the Daily Herald? At least you kept him below the fold.
On the day before the historic national health care reform bill, we're treated to the delusional ramblings of a failed political advisor; a cynical, small-minded man who preyed on the many irrational fears he helped create within the voting public.
I find it a fascinating study in human nature to watch Mr. Rove working so hard to alter what he surely must know will be a less-then-flattering historical account of his role in what many historians already believe will be considered one of the worst presidencies in U.S. history. While Mr. Rove may not have been "Bush's brain," he was most certainly largely responsible for many of the ill-fated decisions that define the George W. Bush administration including its crown jewel, the war in Iraq which still wages on today, nearly seven years after Mr. Bush declared "mission accomplished."
Toss in the assault on civil liberties, science, education, the poor and the environment and you have the toxic, retrograde policies that shaped George W Bush's administration and defined Karl Roves sad legacy. Sorry Karl, your fairy tale book won't absolve you of your sins nor will it change the course and record of history. And, as all politics are local, its good to see that an alderman from my crumbling hometown of Prospect Heights found time to attend the Rove love-fest hoping to be inspired... good luck.
