Rush-Copley to present symposium on women's heart health
Rush-Copley Medical Center presents the seventh annual Women's Heart Symposium, "Tailoring the Science to Improve Patient Care," Wednesday, March 10, at Northern Illinois University's Naperville campus.
The symposium will feature dialogue with leading experts on the most current issues related to women's heart disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment. This year's focus is on heart failure.
The symposium is designed for cardiologists, family physicians, internists, obstetricians, gynecologists, oncologists, radiation oncologists, residents, fellows, nurses, allied health professionals and medical and nursing students.
Topics and speakers at this year's symposium include:
• "Heart Failure" by Dr. Courtney Virgilio, a cardiologist at Fox Valley Cardiovascular Consultants in Aurora.
• "Heart Failure: Inpatient Management" by Dr. Geetha Bhat, medical director for the Center for Heart Transplant and Assist Services at Advocate Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn.
• "Outpatient Management of Heart Failure" by Dr. Marc A. Silver, clinical professor and chairman of the Department of Medicine and director of the Heart Failure Institute at Advocate Christ Medical Center, Oak Lawn.
• "Role of Device Therapy in Heart Failure" by Dr. Erica Engelstein, medical director of electrophysiology at Resurrection Medical Center, Chicago.
