Des Plaines man charged with long-term molestation

Christopher Johnson, 43, of the 9400 block of Bay Colony Drive in Des Plaines, has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse, accused of molesting a child for years, perhaps as long as a decade.

According to the Cook County Sheriff's Office, investigators learned of the incidents from a complaint filed with state officials. Multiple witnesses said they were aware of the abuse, and the victim confirmed it, authorities said.

Johnson was arrested Wednesday after being questioned by investigators and admitting to the acts, according to the sheriff's office.

Johnson was charged 10 years ago in Chicago with sexually assaulting a child he knew, but was found not guilty.

Johnson worked as a patient-care technician and physical-therapy aide at hospitals and clinics in the Northwest suburbs, and investigators are asking anyone aware of him interacting with other juveniles to notify them at 708-865-4896.

He is being held in Cook County jail, with a court date set for March 17 in Skokie.
