McHenry Co. man gets probation for trying to fake drug test
A McHenry County man was sentenced Tuesday to two years probation after pleading guilty to allegations he severely beat a man last year and then brought someone else's urine to a court-ordered drug test.
Christopher N. Green, 22, of Wonder Lake, also was fined $250 and ordered to make a $100 donation to McHenry County Crime Stoppers as part of a negotiated plea to charges of aggravated battery and attempted defrauding of a drug and alcohol screening test.
The sentence includes a 90-day term in the county jail, but that is time served since his arrest late last year.
Authorities said Green reported to the county courthouse for a drug test Dec. 10 as a condition of his pretrial release while awaiting trial on the aggravated battery charge. While taking the test, sheriff's police said, Green was caught trying to access a bottle of someone else's urine that he had taped to his leg and smuggled into the courthouse.
The aggravated battery charge followed a March 27, 2009, altercation in which, Assistant McHenry County State's Attorney Simeon Kim said, Green repeatedly struck a man's head and face, causing eye injuries that required several surgeries to repair and a cut lip that needed 14 stitches to close.
As part of his sentence, Green was ordered to pay $1,266 in restitution to the victim's family.
