Carpentersville hangs up help-wanted sign
There are a couple of open positions in Carpentersville village hall, including arguably the toughest and most powerful job in the village - village manager.
With Village Manager Craig Anderson set to retire in June, Carpentersville is now accepting applications for the top spot. The village manager basically runs the town - hires department staff from the police department to finance, but also takes orders or direction from the village board. The job pays about $130,000.
To be eligible for the village manager position, the village requires exceptional communications skills; solid background in general administration and finance; collective bargaining experience; critical and strategic thinking skills; attention to detail; and ability to discern desired outcomes.
Carpentersville is not small town with a population of more than 30,000 and great socioeconomic diversity. The operating budget is $54 million with over 200 full-time positions and 45 part-time positions that provide public works services (water, sewer, and streets), police protection, fire protection, community development services, engineering, and general government functions. Perhaps a less stressful position in village government is more your style. Carpentersville also has two part-time customer service roles available. The positions are responsible for various customer service roles including processing payments for water and sewer bills, village parking stickers and parking fines. Hours will include Monday to Friday, 20 hours a week including Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. Pay for this position is $10 per hour. The ideal candidate will have experience in customer services, as well as an understanding of accounting and bookkeeping practices.
