Education article was on target

I enjoyed the op-ed by Jim Edgar and Bill Daley titled “On the path to meaningful education reform.” I agree that we have a big problem with tracking some of the important parts of our education system, such as how many “good” teachers are teaching how many “struggling” kids.

I also agree that it is a good thing to see all the new charter schools starting up in our state. I went to a charter school from second to eighth grade and learned a lot about the environment, since that was a huge part of the curriculum. It's good to see that our state's improving its education system, but I think that if we had more information, we could do it so much more effectively.

Also, I liked the postsecondary school part, where they talked about the cost of college. College is something that is becoming more and more central to securing a good job in our society. However, kids are so limited by the cost of college that they often don't get to go to a school that could benefit their needs the most. I think that some kind of reform to this is essential to a better-educated business world in the future.
