Bartlett police honor officer, civilian worker

Bartlett police have announced the department's civilian employee and police officer of the year awards for 2009.

Officer Chris Solesky was named officer for the year. The 12-year veteran has excelled in his work with the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy where he used his leadership and mentoring skills. Solesky also helped saved the life of a resident earlier in the year who suffered from a medical condition while in his vehicle.

Solesky earned an associate degree in criminal justice from Harper College in Palatine. He also received the Bartlett police medal of valor in 2003, the Cook County sheriff's Meritorious Service Award in 2003 and IDOT's DUI Enforcement Award.

Community service officer David Lacriola earned the department's civilian award. He's been with the department for more than nine years. Lacriola has helped with events including the fire department's street dance and Lion's Club Labor Day Dash. He also worked with Bartlett Elementary School's walkathon. Police Chief Dan Palmer praised him for his work with young children during traumatic events.
