Hanover Park fire under investigation

No injuries resulted from a Hanover Park house fire Sunday afternoon that remains under investigation.

Firefighters were summoned to the single-family home at 7774 Ramsgate Circle South at 3:19 p.m. Upon arrival, said Hanover Park Battalion Chief Richard Hish, heavy fire and smoke were pouring from the rear of the home.

Hish said the blaze spread from the main floor to a second-story attic.

"It was hard to get at because of the attic," he said of the fire.

Hish said the home's residents were out when firefighters arrived. He said firefighters brought the family's dog and cat out of the house.

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire. Hish said the fire appeared to have started on the first floor.

Crews were on the scene about two hours before the blaze was put out. At least five suburban fire departments assisted Hanover Park.
