Democrats, GOP have let us down

In my 76 years, I have learned it's easier to get older than it is to get wiser. Here are a few things I had forgotten until I was reminded last year.

Expecting bureaucrats to efficiently manage or control anything - reflects the definition of crazy, which is continuously repeating the same failed policies and procedures while promising and expecting more favorable results.

The primary interests of politicians, as a group, are to further their political interests and get re-elected. Members of the House of Representatives, for example, have to fund their next campaign by raising at least $1,500 per day, everyday, from the first day they take office. It is obvious their main priorities require them to help themselves before they get around to thinking seriously about us.

Politicians need to learn the first Rule of Holes: If you're in one, stop digging. As long as they refuse to change the way they develop budgets and spend our tax dollars, the cost of government will continue to rise, regardless of who's in power.

Nothing will ever get done in this country until everyone is willing to take responsibility for their actions and stop finger pointing. Grow up. If you aren't 8 years old, stop acting like it.

Until we find a way to control campaign contributions and spending, politicians will continue to allow the influential lobbies to dictate and control legislation coming out of Springfield and Washington.

As an independent, I am disgusted with both parties, their talking heads and their wing nuts. Neither has shown they are worthy of governing this country. I want to keep voting out all the incumbents until we get people who open their ears, shut their mouths and actually make meaningful improvements in the way the people's business is conducted.
