Four oak trees to be planted at Sandholm Woods in Geneva

City of Geneva, Geneva Park District and FONA International will plant four oaks trees at Sandholm Woods on Geneva's east side at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13. Sandholm Woods is at 34 Sandholm St.

This is a follow up FONA's support for the 2019 Wine, Cheese and Trees fundraiser. Geneva Mayor Kevin Burns, the city's Natural Resources Committee, the Geneva Park District Foundation and Wasco Nursery will be joining FONA for the ceremony.

Mayor Burns, Park District Executive Director Sheavoun Lambillotte, Natural Resources Committee Chair Jay Womack and FONA representatives will briefly talk about the importance of the trees being planted, all of which are being paid for through money raised at the Wine, Cheese and Trees event.

The Geneva Natural Resources Committee and the Geneva Park District Foundation hosted the Wine, Cheese and Trees fundraiser in February.

The event drew nearly 300 people and raised almost $25,000 that will be used by both groups to plant trees in Geneva's parkways, parks and open spaces throughout the community.
