New store celebrates with cheese art

Meier is celebrating the opening of its new store at 9000 W. Golf Road in Niles this weekend by having a cheese artist recreate the town's skyline, along with a so-called "Leaning Tower of Pizza," from two 150 pound blocks of Wisconsin cheddar. Niles is known for its 94-foot tall replica of Italy's famed Leaning Tower of Pisa. Since 1996, Sarah Kaufmann has received hundreds of commissions for her cheese creations. She will be at work from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 20 and 21.
