Perfect record for Elk Grove HS cheerleaders

Elk Grove High School held an assembly Tuesday afternoon to fete the accomplishment of its coed cheerleading squad, which on Saturday continued its dominance, taking its fifth straight state title.

In fact, the Grenadiers are the only squad to have won the coed division since the Illinois High School Association began mounting the state series in 2005.

The competition has gotten tougher over the years, Coach Jeff Siegal said.

"In my 17 years of coaching, this is by far the strongest coed division, ever," he said before winning state.
