2 Larkin students charged in cafeteria fight
Two Larkin High School students were arrested this week after a lunchroom altercation injured a school staff member, police said Thursday.
The boys, who were not identified because they are juveniles, began fighting around noon in the cafeteria, said Elgin Police Detective Darin Hood, who is the school's resource officer. He said the staff member was injured during an attempt to intervene.
"There were no life-threatening injuries," Hood said. The students were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Hood said the cause of the altercation remains other investigation, and police have not yet determined whether additional charges will be filed.
