Arts academy to offer open house, workshop

The Noble Fool Theatricals Performing Arts Academy invites aspiring local youth, ages 3 to 19, to a summer open house and free workshop event from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 17 in the Mainstage Theater at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St. in St. Charles.

The open house is designed for interested children and their parents to come and learn about the academy, meet the accomplished teachers and even try out a mini-workshop with fellow students. Each workshop will include a short performance from past students.

"So many times I get e-mails and phone calls from parents who have children interested in trying a class but sometimes are too shy or unsure to commit to a full session of classes," states Education Manager Tracy Whiteside. "By having an open house, we're creating an environment that's inviting and fun, where current students can talk to new students, and fellow parents can get to know each other and ask questions."

Each hour consists of an introduction from Tracy Whiteside, a showcase performance from current NFT students and a mini-class with an instructor. Attendees are able to come at anytime between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. to participate or just watch. Parents are invited to observe as well.

The schedule will be: meet and greet NFT instructors, students, fellow parents, staff and interns at 4 p.m.; Tots Mini-Class for ages 3-5 at 4:30 p.m.; Singing Mini-Class for ages 6-18 at 5:30 p.m.; Acting Mini-Class for ages 6-18 at 6:30 p.m.; and Musical Theatre Mini-Class for ages 6-18 at 7:30 p.m.

The Noble Fool Performing Arts Academy is a nonprofit organization committed to exposing young people to both the technical and performance aspects of live theater. Its approach to fulfilling that commitment is one of introducing the arts and professional artists to the community, as well as a hands-on learning experience in traditional theatrical performance. It offers various programs all year long, including theater classes and camps, children's programming, youth ensemble productions and an internship program. The academy features some of the Chicago area's most respected teachers, directors, actors and musicians.
