Scouting report: Indiana at Northwestern

When: 1:30 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan Arena

TV: BTN

Radio: WGN 720-AM

The skinny: The Hoosiers apparently have forgotten their rebuilding process should go slowly. Yes, Indiana doesn't have a great record, but its last two games were a buzzer-beating loss at Illinois and a 3-point home defeat to Purdue. Sophomore guard Verdell Jones (14.3 ppg) has asserted himself as IU's go-to guy. As for the Wildcats, sophomore forward John Shurna leads the league in Big Ten scoring (19.6 ppg) and free-throw shooting (90.7 percent). Shurna and center Luka Mirkovic could be in line for big days as NU tries to exploit the Hoosiers' inability to control the defensive glass and their penchant for fouling.
