Media outlets need new priorities
Scott Lee Cohen would never have been elected except for the $2 million in ads he placed. The newspapers and TV networks, by accepting his money for ads, in fact endorsed him for office.
The fourth estate {the news media} has a duty to do some due diligence: not just to just take the money first and ask questions later. My favorite Illinois newspaper's motto is; "To fear God, tell the truth and make money." If all the media outlets would consider using these priorities in order better candidates would come to the fore front.
