Health care reform is personal for her

I have never been so disappointed in our government as I have been in watching health care reform get beaten down and used as a political punching bag when this is one of the most important issues facing this country in a generation. I am not at all happy at how weak the bill became in order to placate conservatives in both parties, but I also do not believe we should give up reform entirely either! I currently have private health insurance from my employer. However, I am currently on short-term disability, waiting to transition to long-term disability in a few weeks. When that happens, I will lose my job and need to take COBRA insurance. Once that runs out, I will be un-insurable because of the pre-existing condition that has me out on disability. In fact, I have been paying extra out of my paycheck for additional long-term disability coverage, but because I have not been paying for it long enough, I have already been told I will be disqualified for the additional coverage due to this pre-existing condition when my long-term disability coverage begins. We are so close to passing health care reform. I just want to be able to purchase health care insurance!
