We all should pitch in on health care
I spend approximately $10,000 on health care every year because of a pre-existing condition for a member of my family. The system in the hands of the insurance companies is a broken system.
Medical coverage should be available to all citizens, not just those lucky enough to be in 'the club' - those who the insurance companies consider healthy enough to insure. Health care is by its very nature a socialist undertaking. We all pitch in to make sure everyone is taken care of - we don't leave our brothers and sisters to fend for themselves.
It is time for reform. And yes, it is going to be expensive, messy and imperfect. But we cannot let this opportunity pass. If the country loses focus at this critical moment, the broken system will remain broken. Those outside the favored circle will continue to have to fend for themselves while those more fortunate, more healthy, will continue to be covered. Please, Congress, finish the job.
