Scouting Northwestern basketball
Michigan (11-10, 4-5) at Northwestern (14-7, 3-6)When: 6 p.m. at Welsh-Ryan ArenaTV: BTN; Radio: WGN 720-AMSkinny: At long last, the Wildcats reach the end of their marathon where their first 10 Big Ten opponents all played in last year's NCAA Tournament. NU rallied to win at Michigan 68-62 on Jan. 10 as freshman Drew Crawford scored all 25 of his points in the final 25 minutes. The Wolverines win also triggered a good string of games for sophomore center Luka Mirkovic. NU needs to own the interior again in the rematch, but it also couldn't hurt to win the battle of the big scorers. Michigan senior DeShawn Sims leads the Big Ten in scoring (conference games only) with 20.6 ppg while John Shurna is next at 20.1 ppg. If you're curious, a Wildcat hasn't led the Big Ten in conference scoring since Ray Ragelis averaged 19.8 points in 1951.
