Libertyville woman charged with drug possession

A Libertyville woman has been charged with possession of heroin and an antidepressant police found at the scene of an overdose.

Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Christen Bishop said Summer Scheithe, 33, faces up to three years in prison if convicted of possession of controlled substances.

Bishop said Scheithe, of the 600 block of First Street, was at a house in the Grayslake area around 10 p.m. on Dec. 4 when emergency services were called for a possible drug overdose.

Rescue personnel and the Lake County sheriff's office arrived and began questioning everyone at the scene, Bishop said. Scheithe admitted to the deputy that she and the overdose victim, whose name and condition were unavailable Monday, had bought heroin together earlier that evening.

Scheithe surrendered a plastic bag containing 1.5 grams of heroin and two pills of the antidepressant Xanax, Bishop said, and was taken into custody.

She was released on a signature bond and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 22.
