Food baskets were community effort

The South Elgin Lions Club would like to thank the people of South Elgin for all the help received with the collection, creation and distribution of Christmas baskets. A total of 6.75 tons of food was collected and more than $7,000 in donations and toys were received.

Through these donations, the Lions Club was able to coordinate the distribution of 225 Christmas food baskets and toys to South Elgin families. Due to the generosity of a number of organizations, an additional $1,005 and approximately 200 pounds of food were donated to the South Elgin Food Pantry.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the various schools, businesses, banks, builders, stores, restaurants, veterans groups and others organizations and residents who helped out. Many thanks also to village employees and the fire protection district.

Through all of your work, many families were given a wonderful Christmas.
