Two charged with cocaine possession by Palatine bar

Two men were charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance Saturday after police reported finding a bag of cocaine in a car the two were in by a Palatine bar.

Jason M. Bucaro, 27, of Hapsfield Lane in Buffalo Grove, and Jonathan R. Olson, 26, of North Nordica in Chicago, were sitting in a car in the parking lot of Idol's Sports Bar & Grill on Rand Road in Palatine on Friday night when Palatine police approached them and saw a bag of white powder inside the car.

The powder later tested positive as 1 gram of cocaine, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Lesley Gool.

Palatine police were asked by the bar's management to survey the lot after concerns of prior incidents of drug activity, she said. Bond was set at $5,000 for Bucaro and $1,000 for Olson on Saturday. Their next date is Feb. 23.
