Mayors crying with crocodile tears

I read in your paper dated 1/4/10 about how "concerned" all 21 suburban mayors are about the economy for 2010. I wonder how many of the 21 in your article gave themselves a pay raise?

The mayor from Hoffman Estates evidently has no qualms about giving himself a 79 percent raise while laying off police officers due to the economy. I guess his almost double pay raise is more important than the security and well being of the citizens in his township.

Is there no ceiling for these self-appointed pay raises? Why didn't he just give himself a 100 percent raise, did he feel too greedy? I don't know how they sleep at night knowing they have just put more people on the unemployment list! What hypocrisy.
