St. Charles man admits molesting disabled woman

A St. Charles man was sentenced to two years of sex offender probation Wednesday for molesting a mentally disabled woman.

Frederick L. Wallace, 41, of the 1300 block of Prairie Street, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse in a plea deal accepted by Kane County Judge T. Jordan Gallagher.

Police have said Wallace assaulted the victim - a 25-year-old woman with the mental capacity of a 7-year-old - in August and September last year. He was arrested at his job in North Aurora two weeks after the second incident, following an investigation by the county's Child Advocacy Center.

On Wednesday, prosecutor Pam Monaco said the victim was evaluated at a hospital, and there was evidence of molestation that would have proven Wallace guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Wallace's criminal history includes a drug conviction in Cook County for which Wallace was sentenced to six years in prison and "pages of misdemeanor offenses over the past couple of decades," she said.

In addition to probation, Wallace was sentenced to 180 days in the county jail, with credit for 126 days served since his arrest, and $500 in fines and court costs.
