Lane Bryant murders probe costs $1 mil
Tinley Park police say eight investigators are still sifting through thousands of tips received following the fatal shootings at a Lane Bryant store in 2008.
The number includes six full time police officers from the suburban Chicago police department.
Police say the total cost of the investigation has exceeded $1 million.
On Feb. 2, 2008 a man entered the store and fatally shot five women during a botched robbery attempt. A sixth woman was shot but survived.
Since that time, investigators have received more than 5,500 tips and police say investigators are reworking them all. The investigation has also led them to England so an investigator could try a new forensic procedure.
Investigators are also combing through 48,000 cell phone records.
