La Posada event at Greenbelt:

Experience the traditional Latin American holiday celebration of La Posada at the Lake County Forest Preserves’ Greenbelt Cultural Center, Sunday, Dec. 18, from 3 to 5 p.m. This free family event, presented with the sponsorship of Pace Suburban Bus, features re-enactments, entertainment and refreshments. The posada tradition commemorates Mary and Joseph’s journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of shelter. A processional will re-enact this search. The event includes a festive social celebration with traditional Latin American musical performances and refreshments, including punch, hot chocolate and sweet bread.
