DHS warns S. Ind. to observe flood safety tips
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Homeland Security is cautioning residents of southern Indiana to keep aware of developing flood conditions and to take appropriate safety measures.
Some streams and rivers in southern Indiana are expected to keep rising above flood stage before cresting. Public safety officials anticipate flooding in low lying areas, along streams and other small bodies of water, and over low water crossings.
The agency warns that water levels can change rapidly and flooding can begin with little or no warning. It advises residents to watch waterways along roads near their homes.
The agency also reminds motorists they should never attempt to cross flooded roads, even if the water seems shallow.
